LOL! You see, I’m lucky. I read Tamora Pierce for research purposes. ; ) I do study her techniqes, while I’m basking in her wonderful world-building and her perfect characterization. I can’t lose myself in books until the kids go to sleep (for another 4 years or so) but that was my favorite part of summer too!

This summer? Lots and lots of ice water. The one thing my house boasts is excellent insulation so I’m lucky. That and I’ll go outside, douse myself with water and then come back inside feeling much cooler. : )

Mim, yes, I think I need that refresh for energy. But yes, also, no disappearing into a story for hours and hours and putting writing too much on hold!

I find that giving myself the free reading time makes me much more productive. But I personally have to be careful not to shut out the world. I’m really good at disappearing into a book, and ignoring everything else around me. I haven’t picked out many summer books yet, but I’m sure I’ll find some!

Your plans sound wonderful! I have to make it through the school year before I can think much about what I’m going to read. But yes, reading and writing are always a part of my summer plans. I want to push through to the end of my WIP (finally!). This summer, I’m also taking a 6 hour a week figure drawing intensive and a portrait class. Reading under the fan with popsicles sounds great! Enjoy.

And it bakes here too, which makes this such a great idea. I’ll start it TODAY!
I have my summer picks on my shelf to take me through mid-July probably. Then I get to go shopping again!
